The series campaign has had some big hits and big misses in the past. However, there is more to the franchise than the multiplayer action. The Call of Duty franchise has long been famous for its multiplayer battlefield massacres where players run and gun, live and die only to be resurrected shortly thereafter at a safe point on the map.
Nailing an enemy with a beat attack and watching him drop to the ground is one of the game's many guilty pleasures. The game even features sci-fi inspired beam weapons that stream energy between targets. The gun physics are uninspired but, the animations and sounds provide great feedback to the player.
